Troop 516 is part of the Wright Brothers District of the Miami Valley Council and is sponsored by Southminster Presbyterian Church in Centerville, Ohio. Troop 516 holds its meetings every Monday night at 7:00pm in Southminster's Fellowship Hall. Troop 516 shares its resources with Venturing Crew 516, and also invites the Crew to participate in some of the Troop's outings.
Troop 516 goes on weekend campouts once every month, and annualy goes to summer camp and has at least one high adventure trip.
The goal of the Boy Scouts of America is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs, and, at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations. For younger members, the Scouting method is part of the program to inculcate typical Scouting values such as honesty, good citizenship, and outdoor skills, through a variety of activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking.
